Community Expo: Watersheds, Water Quality, Lakes, Rivers, Land Use Issues

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!! A different kind of trick or treating is being offered this Halloween! Instead of going house to house, go table to table looking at displays, talking to experts and collecting materials from exhibitors at the Watershed Community Expo. They will even have candy for you! Come and talk to the experts about how to protect water quality and natural resources in your community. This is the perfect opportunity to network and find out what others in southwest Michigan are doing to protect and improve our water and natural resources. There will be information on groundwater, drinking water, wetlands, rivers, lakes, land use planning and zoning, agricultural programs to protect water quality, conservation options for landowners and much more.

Exhibitors will include Van Buren and Berrien County Conservation Districts, Michigan State University Extension, watershed groups, Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy, The Nature Conservancy, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Sarett Nature Center, USDA - Natural Resource Conservation Service, Wightman & Associates along with other engineering and planning consulting firms and many more.

Directing the Flow: A Watershed Short Course for the Paw Paw River and Black River Watersheds
October 3 - 31 2006, Tuesday nights from 5:30-9:00 pm with a Saturday tour on October 28 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Participants will learn about water quality and watersheds in this locally relevant watershed management education experience. Cost: $50 per person ($20 rebate for the first 20 people to register).
