Algird Barvicks Dunes Nature Sanctuary
Algird Barvicks Dunes Nature Sanctuary has been hailed by the Michigan Nature Association as a "superlative" sanctuary. Few MNA natural areas can boast the combination of the Barvick Dunes' two distinctly dissimilar habitats, the Atlantic Coast Plains marsh and hardwood conifer swamp.

Still uncrowded and unspoiled, the 40 acre dune/forest complex is a refuge for 12 Plant species found nowhere else on MNA lands. Four of the 12 species are of threatened status. The dune is moving and covered by luxuriant ferns, islands of oak, jack pine, and pin and sand cherries.

A guide is required to tour the area.

Located about one mile from Lake Michigan, northwest of Coloma, at the junction of CR-376 and 80th St. in Van Buren County and west of Fish Corners.
