Household Hazardous Waste Program
Almena Township residents are now eligible to recycle certain household hazardous waste materials at the Kalamazoo County Household Hazardous Waste facility. Materials accepted include:

Aerosols
Batteries
Cleaners
Gasoline
Mercury
Oil-based paints
Pesticides
Pure, used motor oil.

The facility does not accept latex paints or business waste.

Because costs are assessed on a per-load basis and because the Township has a limited budget for this service, neighbors are encouraged to pool their recyclable HHW materials together into one load to take to the facility. This will allow more Townships residents to take advantage of this opportunity.

Please take note that you will be asked to provide proof that you are indeed a resident of Almena Township when visiting the HHW facility.

The Kalamazoo County HHW facility is located next to the Kalamazoo County Fairgrounds at 1301 Lamont Avenue. See the link below for hours and a map to the facility or call the Info Hotline at 373-5211 for more details.
