Though Conservation Districts are local units of state government, they are not funded by state dollars alone. Much of district funding relies on dollars from private sources, partnerships with local entities, charges for certain services, and from individual donations.

The Van Buren Conservation District's annual tree seedling sale is a way for local residents to purchase conservation seedlings for erosion control, wildlife habitat, reforestation, windbreaks, beautification and many other conservation purposes.

Revenues from the Conservation District tree sale go to support local conservation projects and programs in Van Buren County such as the Black River Watershed Project and the Groundwater Stewardship Program. The educational resources and technical assistance provided by Conservation Districts are valuable resources to their communities as we work together to put conservation on the land.

Public Act 189 of 1939 PROHIBITS seedlings purchased from Conservation Districts from being resold with roots attached.
All District programs & services are offered on a non-discriminatory basis without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, marital status, or handicap.
