Pollice Committee Village of Lawrence February 1, 2006 Meeting called to order 6:05 p.m. Those present: John Gritter, Michelle Curtis, Dick Smith, Ken Schaut, Dale Gribler, Bill Lux, Tim Wydick, Paul Kolon.
Paul Kolon sought advice from the committee and the Sheriff’s department on resolving a barking dog issue. Deputy Wydick will follow up with Paul and the owner of the dogs in question. Deputy Wydick reported that law enforcement issues in the Village were typical for the month, with nothing of particular concern to report. The committee and Sheriff Gribler discussed the police contract. Several minor points were resolved. Lt. Lux proivided the Village with a copy of the union contract governing deputies as a reference for language used in the contract. The Village asked if the Sheriff’s department could get a better deal on the Nextel phone currently provided by the Village and used by Deputy Wydick. The Sheriff said that he though that it should not be difficult to arrange. Dick Smith relayed concerns that had been expressed to him by constituents that Deputy Wydick was being dispatched to calls outside the village. Deputy Wydick was able to state that the calls in question related to a clear and present danger to human safety. He further stated that the Village was not charged if he was out of the Village for long periods of time. The committee reiterated its gratitude to Deputy Wydick for his consistent care in making best use of the Village resources. The committee further reiterated that Deputy Wydick should not let concerns about money delay his response to any call he sees fit. John Gritter
