The purpose of this Public meeting is to discuss easement requirements for the reconstruction of the Brush Creek Bridge Project.

The Public meeting of the Common Council of Village of Lawrence was called to order by President Pro-tem Richard Smith at 7:00 PM

Talked and answered concerns on the easement for the north side of Brush Creek Bridge.

Motion by Keyser supported by Webster to $2000.00 for permanent easement for property owned by Kevin and Carol Selvidge.

The Regular Monthly meeting of the Common Council of Village of Lawrence was called to order by President Pro-tem Smith at 7:00 PM.

Present: Curtis, Nower, Keyser, Schaut, Gritter, Webster
Absent: Wilson

Motion by Keyser supported by Curtis to accept minutes as corrected for the March 14, 2006 meeting. Motion carried.

Motion by Keyser supported by Nower to accept minutes as presented for the March 21, 2006 meeting. Motion carried.

Motion by Webster supported by Nower that the bills be allowed as presented. Motion carried.

Chris Siebenmark, District Representative for Senator Jelinek, reported on legislative matters. The increase in the minimum wage has become law. The new law regarding increased graduation requirements for high schools students (effective 2011) was discussed.

Dave Vago – Wade Trim Operations Services presented the Village of Lawrence with a check for $3574.81.

Wade Trim Status report given by Terry Bartels.

Motion by Smith supported by Curtis to accept the Resolution to award bid to Ed Birkmeir Well Drilling.


VILLAGE OF LAWRENCE

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, bids were received, opened, and read aloud on March 28, 2006 for the Village of Lawrence Water System Improvements Project – Well # 4.
BE IT RESOLVED that the Village of Lawrence hereby acts on the following:
That the low bid of $169,387.00 by Ed Birkmeier Well Drilling of New Lothrup, Michigan be accepted contingent on MEDC concurrence.
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Village President be authorized to sign the Notice of Award.
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED, that the Village President and Clerk be authorized to execute the Contracts following completion of contractual arrangements.
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED, that the Village President be authorized to sign the Notice to Proceed upon final review of the Contracts.
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED, that if the results of either the test well or production well do not produce satisfactory results, the contract with Ed Birkmeier Well Drilling will be terminated.

Permission was given to the American Legion Auxiliary to have poppy day.

Motion by Curtis supported by Webster that the village use $100,000.00 from strategic water funds and loan the fund to LDFA for the water tower project. This loan to be paid back to the village within twenty (20) years including a 2% annual interest rate.
