COMPUTER INFORMATION SERVICES
The Van Buren County IS Department is responsible for voice and data communications within the county operations. This includes all maintenance, upkeep, and repair of equipment including personal computers, file servers, midrange computers (AS/400), network equipment, and other voice and data equipment located within the Courthouse's in Paw Paw and South Haven, Courthouse Annex, Administration Building, Animal Control and the Sheriff's Department.
The Information Services Department is responsible for upkeep and training for all operating systems, from windows NT to Windows 2003. The Information Services Department is responsible for maintenance for all software applications, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access), Resource Information Associates software (Tax Administration, Delinquent Tax, Dog Licensing and Drain Assessments), Assessing packages (SAMS, Equalizer), FilePro (Juvenile and Probate Court), Jury selection, ACT, Pimars and Citrix.
The Information Services Department provides support of Local Taxing Units by way of computer support, annual printer maintenance contracts, input of yearly database fro Resource Software, retrieval of information for taxing purposes and data exports of names, addresses, and legal business for tax related items and provides this information in electronic format. The Information Services Department also serves as a resource for information regarding computer and related items.
The Information Services Department assists County Departments in identifying needs for computers. The Information Services Department purchases computers, installs them and provides all maintenace-related tasks to ensure that workflow do not stop.
The philosophy of the Information Services Department is to strive to provide Van Buren County with a structurally sound department that is always on the move to become better, more efficient and able to handle the needs of the ever changing work environment of today.
